LECTURE: Discovering the Magic of Alexander Calder and How to Integrate His Mobiles and Wire Sculptures into Your Classroom.
This professional development workshop for K-12 educators explores the rich history and artistry of the Benin Kingdom in West Africa. Participants will learn how to integrate the art and cultural objects of the Benin Kingdom into their curriculum through engaging discussions and hands-on activities. This workshop includes a guided tour of the Metal Museum’s current exhibitions, outdoor sculptures, Blacksmith and Foundry studios, a PowerPoint lecture on the art of the Benin Kingdom tailored for K-12 classrooms, and three creative hands-on activities with lesson plans designed to inspire meaningful classroom learning. Participants will receive 4 hours of PD credit.

Limited seating and supplies available. Teachers are eligible to receive 4 hours of Professional Development credit.
